Rockstar Games was once planning to support Grand Theft Auto V with single-player story DLC, like it had with previous entries. And then GTA Online became a worldwide phenomena, and all of that. Grand Theft Auto V News UPDATE: The official details on the upcoming GTA Online Update have been revealed! The DLC will be called ' The Cayo Perico Heist Update ' and is coming December 15. Click here for all the revealed details!

A long wait is still on the cards for gamers before Rockstar Games are prepared to unveil the GTA 6 release date on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

A long list of rumours have been released this year on connection with the setting and locations that will be playable in the next Grand Theft Auto adventure.

Many of these have been disproven, and we’re still waiting for something concrete on what GTA 6 will be like.

But we have heard more about the launch potential launch date, and it’s not great news for gamers hoping for a quick turnaround.

Unless things change, the GTA 6 release date isn’t expected to be announced until the second half of 2021.

And even after that, the game might not hit shelves until 2022, making for the longest wait yet for a Grand Theft Auto game.

Filling that gap will be a next-gen version of GTA 5, as well as various expansions for GTA Online.

The latest theory regarding GTA 6 is that Rockstar Games shared coordinates – which read 38.527,-79.6129 – during a new GTA Online trailer.

This has led gamers to hone in on the Middle Mountain Trail, which can be found hugging the border between Virginia and West Virginia.

A hairpin turn has been found that some fans believe could tease the future of the game, although, in a way that doesn’t provide anything past squinty roman numerals.

It’s hard to see how this provides much in the way of information for GTA 6, or what it might mean for the new game.

Some fans have also been raising the question of whether this is the start of a new Easter egg hunt, with some kind of Grand Theft Auto coming during The Game Awards.

“What are the odds or chances for Grand Theft Auto VI or Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition to appear or get announced at the Game Awards or shortly after on December 10th – 15th. The topic itself has now become the most trendy and most talked about speculated and rumoured game for over 3 years that there is no way that they are going to leave 2020 heading into a new decade without knowing of what new games to expect on Ps5 and the Xbox series X.”

Many have pointed out that until the next-gen version of GTA 5 has been released, this will be the game Rockstar will want to promote.

With GTA 6 out of the limelight, for now, fans have been keeping an eye on things going on around Rockstar Games.

And the next big release will be for GTA Online on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

GTA 5 Online fans will get a new Heist to run, with the Cayo Perico Heist launching on December 15.

Rockstar Games officially announced the highly anticipated update, confirming that the Cayo Perico Heist will see players infiltrate a massive and remote island compound.

Dubbed “the biggest GTA Online adventure ever” the new Grand Theft Auto DLC introduces an all-new exotic Heist location.

That’s without mentioning that this new Heist will allow for Solos run, dropping the issues with servers significantly.

Alternatively, players can tackle the Cayo Perico Heist with up to three other players.

Announcing the GTA 5 Online Cayo Perico Heist, Rockstar Games said: “It’s time to raise the stakes higher than ever before. You’ve broken a convicted spy out of Bolingbroke Penitentiary. “You’ve saved the world from an egomaniacal tech billionaire. And you’ve beaten the odds to drain a casino of its cash. This time, you’re taking on an entire island.

“Prepare to infiltrate the remote island compound of the world’s most notorious drug dealer in Grand Theft Auto Online’s biggest, most daring, and action-packed addition yet: The Cayo Perico Heist.

“The Cayo Perico Heist is the biggest GTA Online adventure ever, introducing an all-new exotic Heist location, with a brand-new approach to Heist design that features the ability to play everything solo or with up to three other players.

“Plus you can acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, experience new social spaces to dance and party with friends and new world-class DJs, and listen to new radio stations with over 100 new songs. Oh, and a very large, very versatile, and very heavily armed submarine HQ with plenty of other surprises.”

The long-anticipated Grand Theft Auto Online map expansion DLC is almost on us, and it looks like we're heading to Southern America or Europe!
Earlier today, Rockstar released a short teaser for what they claim to be the largest update GTA Online has ever seen! Here, I'm going to share some of the most interesting screenshots and discuss my theories based on what Rockstar has shown us.

Grand Theft Auto Online Casino Dlc

The teaser was titled 'El Rubio Dossier' - Suggesting it is a police or government file about a criminal organisation. This could perhaps lead to us once again working with the FIB, or in our own interests, to take down an enemy criminal organisation, with the return of characters like Martin Madrazo returning to assist us in the greatest heist yet.

The Map

The first thing to discuss about a map expansion, is obviously the map. One of the scenes shows a quick glimpse of the island we'll be travelling to on the right of the UI. Appearing somewhat tropical, and far from the Catalina-based theories many of the community has brought up.

Of course, it isn't a high resolution image, so features can be quite hard to make out, but the main area seems to be around the size of Paleto Bay, Chilliad and Grapeseed combined, with some extra room to spare. It consists of what appears to be two main islands, one being the larger crescent-shaped island, with a smaller one in the cove to the north, between two peninsulas.

There doesn't seem to be any clear main city or town, but some lighter clusters on the right peninsula and at the bottom left could turn out to be the main island settlements.

Some people believe the island will be called 'El Rubio', but I believe this is not the case:

The Story

One screenshot we get shows a John Doe (I've seen a lot of people confused about this, a 'John Doe' is the term for an unidentified corspe) washed up on the beach of Los Santos, along with a briefcase. You can see these ingame as of now, across many beach locations at the south of Los Santos.

The interesting part about this screenshot, however, is the information based on him -- His last contact was at LSIA, and he is a known affiliate of 'El Rubio' - Implying that it is not a location, but rather a crime family or an underground organisation.

The Hub, or the Target

One screenshot shows a large riverside villa, which could be one of three things;

  • A random part of the scenery with no real gameplay involved, just serving as a set piece for one mission.
  • The main target for the finale of the heist, perhaps holding important documents, gold, drugs, or something else?
  • The main hub where our characters will be staying, featuring hotel rooms and a safe social space for everybody to stay.

The villa bolsters many different buildings, pools, and luxury decks with incredible ocean views, and seems like a great place to stay. If only I could go there in real life.

Defences

In the same frame we saw the exciting map reveal, we're shown a tower in the middle of what seems to be a palm forest. The tower could be used for spotting wild fires, or sniping any pesky enemies trying to breach your criminal enterprise.

Due to the high up nature of this image, you can see how far the island spreads, with immersive fog filling the distance. If it wasn't for the green filter, I'm sure we'd be seeing the beautiful tropical colours of the surrounding environments.

Agriculture

In these final two screenshots, you can see two different angles of the same farm located somewhere on the island. You can tell it's the same based upon the road layout around the main sheltered areas. This may be your typical fruit or tobacco farm, or something a little more illegal if the island is run by local gangs. It's hard to tell what these would be used for, but perhaps a mission where we burn the produce much like in Red Dead Redemption 2's assault on Caliga Hall with Sean could be what we're about to see.
